I’m starting a new series for a show I’m doing with my friend Anna in April. The inspiration is maps, paths, getting to where you are, were, and will be.

This show will be amazing! Can’t wait till April.

Sneaky Chef

Day 1 of Mission Toddler Nutrition was a big success! The boy ate spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini and summer squash and had no idea!!! Sneaking puréed veggies into chicken parm and classic mac n’ cheese seemed to work really really well. Can’t wait to try more recipes.

Tomato Day

Harvest time at the Schachtell home. Oven dried Romas, Tomato and Bread Soup for dinner and Fresh Tomato Salsa poised for tomorrow. Pics to come, old computer means I am in blog limbo so text only for awhile… Sorry!

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade!

Equal parts fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and water. in this case i did 4 cups of each. add lemon slices for garnish.

to make simple syrup: boil equal parts sugar and water until the sugar dissolves and let cool. add lemon peel (or any herb/flavor you love… mint or rosemary for example) for extra oomf. for this recipe i used 3 cups of water and sugar.

nothing cools you off from a HOT! summer day quite like fresh lemonade

Personal style says as much about your values as it does about your taste.

Summer Wine List

Keep it simple. I love how the author encourages casual wine enjoying, instead of wine snobbery. You can usually find me on summer Friday evenings hanging outside with my hubby and son enjoying a light white or rosé. I’d like to add to this list my current personal fave, for only $13.99 at my local wine shop, Colorado Wine Co. in Eagle Rock…a 2010 Chateau de Rouet Rosé. I tend to err on the dry and light side, instead of sweet.. Although there have been times where a sparkling sweet rosé is the only answer. Happy sipping!

Nothing says summer more than off the vine tomatoes! I picked some fresh basil and tomatoes from the garden, tossed them with a little olive oil and S&P for an impromptu bruschetta lunch to enjoy in the yard… a tip, grill your bread and while still hot rub with half a raw garlic clove for that garlicky punch.

Summer Series

Seeing as how I live in Los Angeles and it is officially summer here, I can’t resist but do a summer series on all things style-y, yumm-y and love-ly that make us all relish the summer months. Stay tuned for bits on summer entertaining, eating, relaxing and what you should be wearing while staying cool and looking great!
